about

The pieces compiled here all qualify (in my imagination) for the category "song". It is either their form ("Song for Capa", "Friend") or an inherent quality of singing ("Lamento", "Sirens", "Interlude") that connects them to this idea.

"The Trap" is an ode to the drum set. It is constructed from samples of drum intros and drum solos throughout the history of the instrument.
In order of appearance:
James Ash, Alvin Stoller, Günter "Baby" Sommer, Rashid Ali & John Coltrane, Al Tootie Heath, Ed Blackwell, Carlton Barrett, Alvin Stoller, Philly Joe Jones (2), Roy Haynes (2), Art Blakey, Sven-Åke Johansson (3), Elvin Jones, Dave Lombardo, Alphonse Mouzon, Shelly Manne, Joey Baron, Gerry Hemingway, Adrienne Davies, Morten J. Olsen, Christian Wolfarth, Al Jackson Jr., Antonin Gerbal

"Song for Capa" has been written for an exhibition about the life and work of Robert Capa in Dresden in 2015. I am grateful to Gwendolin Kremer for the commission. The piece is dedicated to Guy Klucevsek and to Hannes Buder.

about

Hannes Lingens Berlin, Germany

I am interested in improvised and composed forms of experimental music.
While most of the music I play is created collectively (as a member of Die Hochstapler and other groups), here those releases can be found that appeared under my own name.
